Toronto’s MY HOUSE in the Junction live music venue & restaurant has teamed up with Brooklyn, NY’s Browntasauras Records — who has a studio in the Junction — to bring you some of the best jazz in the country, this year featuring Artist-In-Residence BROWNMAN ALI as the fest’s Artistic Director. Up from Brooklyn, NY in June for this festival, this 10x Global Music Award winner, 12x JUNO Award nominee and GRAMMY long-lister will be on stage every night during the festival as either a sideman or a leader, and has hand-picked all the top-shelf musicians involved in the 1st annual My House Junction Jazz Fest! Come to My House in the Junction for an unforgettable jazz experience this June!

Jordana Talsky is a multi-award winning singer/songwriter (semi-finalist at the Sarah Vaughn International Vocal Jazz Competition) and vocal looper who crafts intricate soundscapes using only her voice and body, live-looped through a Roland Boss RC505. Her EP Zahava — Hebrew for “golden” and her middle name — showcases this innovative approach, layering harmonies, rhythms, and melodies without pre-recorded parts. Her vocal loop track, “RUN,” was selected as a finalist in Canada’s CBC Searchlight Contest.

Bringing together 3 generations of adventurous jazz musicians — veteran iconic drummer Stich Wynston of the SHUFFLE DEMONS, 2x National Jazz Award winning trumpet iconoclast Brownman Ali, and 20-year old Humber College bass prodigy Jake Moodie on upright. All 3 are known for their risk-taking, irreverent styles and will deliver 2 sets of “dangerous, treacherous, precarious jazz that walks the edge” focusing on dangerous jazz from the 50’s and 60’s (expect to hear Miles, Coltrane and Mingus tunes). Herbie Hancock, legendary pianist and composer, revolutionized jazz through his work with Miles Davis’s Second Great Quintet and as a pioneer of post-bop, funk, and synth-driven jazz. JUNO nominated piano & synth wizard Nick Maclean, leads a elite synergistic quartet featuring some of Toronto’s finest in a 2-set tribute: Set 1 covers Hancock’s Blue Note and Miles-era classics, while Set 2 will dive into the funk-driven grooves of Head Hunters. Italian-born, Toronto-based vocalist Carlo Berardinucci is a seasoned jazz singer known for his velvety baritone and classic interpretations of the Great American Songbook. His 30+ year career includes being the featured vocalist with the Dan Bodanis Big Band and a 2008 album “She Made Me Do It” showcasing his flair for timeless ballads and jazz standards. In this tribute, he channels the spirit and style of Frank Sinatra with elegance and swing, backed by some of the top-shelf jazz musicians in the country including multiple JUNO Award nominees Nick Maclean & Brownman Ali.

Hailed as “one of the greatest interpreters of Miles Davis’ work in Canada” (Hamilton Spectator), multi award-winning trumpet iconoclast Brownman Ali leads a tribute to a pivotal chapters in Miles’history. From 1951 to 1956, Miles would record a string of groundbreaking albums for Prestige Records, including Cookin’, Relaxin’, Workin’, and Steamin’ — music that blended bebop virtuosity with a cool, lyrical sensibility that reshaped modern jazz. Brownman and a selection of top-shelf jazz artists will explore these recordings channeling the intensity and innovation of Miles’ early genius.
