National Indigenous Peoples Day at Beaches Sandbox

On June 21, Beaches Sandbox (2181 Queen St E) will host a family-friendly day of free activities for reflection, celebration, and connection in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day. All are welcome! 

Presented in partnership with HOPES Indigenous Training Network and curated by Dawn T. Maracle, the day includes: 

  • Curator Led Discussion “The Importance of National Indigenous Peoples Day”  
  • Caregiver & Tot Rattle Making workshop with Dawn T Maracle 
  • Teachings and Tellings with Elder Cat Criger 
  • Beginner Beaded Strawberry Workshop with Katie Longboat 
  • The Blanket Exercise Workshop with Dawn T. Maracle and Cheryl Cress 
  • Live Music Performance by Rosary Spence 
  • Traditional food tasting 

Beaches Sandbox is an accessible and modern, charitable community centre for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds located in the heart of Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood. We offer inclusive programs, workshops, special events, and camps that bring people together to create, connect, and have fun. Our mission is to foster meaningful connections that combat social isolation—with a vision of building a happier, more connected community.
